• The Jewelry-Kardashian & Humphries Wedding

We have all been waiting to see the type of jewelry Kim Kardashian wore on her wedding day and the type of band Kris Humphries decided to wear. That day has finally come! People magazine had the exclusive rights to publish some wedding photos and as soon as it hit stands we went to find out all the info for our readers

Lets start off with the most important pieces for the Kardashian-Humphries, the wedding rings. Kim paired her beautiful 20.5 carat diamond engagement ring with a gorgeous diamond eternity ring. The eternity ring has emerald-cut diamonds that are over 15.0 carats in total weight. She’s a lucky girl. It seems as though many celebs are opting for the diamond eternity band for their wedding. We think this is a great choice for a wedding ring. It’s simple and can be worn by itself.  As for Kris, he went with an edgier look; opting for a  black gold wedding band with black diamonds. Our first time seeing pictures of his rings was from a distance and it looked like tungsten. Glad to hear he chose black gold, keeping the traditional use of gold in wedding bands. It was also reported that his black gold wedding band was matched with custom cuff links. Way to accessorize your wedding suit.  Pictures of the rings below, as well as Kim’s other wedding jewelry:

To accessorize with Kim’s wedding gown and rings, Kris Humphries gave her a beautiful diamond bracelet that is in the shape of a knot. Hanging off the knot are two “K” initials symbolizing Kris and Kim tying the knot. Details about the diamond bracelet is still yet to be revealed. Kim also wore a beautiful diamond headpiece, an estimated value of $2.5 million and about 65.0 carat total weight. We’re wondering if it was heavy to wear with all those diamonds on her! To match her unbelievable headpiece, she wore diamond drop earrings. The earrings are 28.0 carat total weight with round diamonds and diamond pear shaped dropping down; valued at $5.0 million. Luckily she borrowed the headpiece and diamond earrings.  Overall, she wore and accessorized the jewelry pieces beautifully and we love the idea of her with all those diamonds. Congratulations once again!

Nick Lachey and Vanessa Minnillo recently wed in a tropical wedding ceremony. We reported on her engagement ring, and some details from the ceremony, but we wondered about the pair’s wedding bands. The verdict is in!

The pair selected bands made from the jeweler who created the engagement ring, New York’s Bader and Garrin. Both wanted substantial rings with diamonds.

The bride selected a platinum eternity band with Asscher cut diamonds. The groom selected a stunning platinum band with 24 square diamonds, to compliment his wife’s choice.

  • Engraving

Here at WeddingBands.com, we have found that a growing number of brides and grooms are interested in engraving a personal message into their wedding bands. And, since we offer free engraving, the possibilites are limitless!  Some of our favorite ideas:

Sometimes simple is best- A simple “Love Forever” can be a basic, but beautiful way to personalize your ring.

Surprise! – We love when couples pick the engraving on the back of each other’s bands… and don’t tell their other half what it says until it arrives in the mail.

Quotes- Short quotes, bible verses, and sayings can usually fit on the band. But, we have to encourage you to keep the number of words low. No one wants only half of their saying to show up!

Whatever you choose, be sure that it is personal, meaningful, and special to you and your future spouse.

What are some of your ideas for engraving? Are you having your bands engraved?

  • Platinum

Platinum is a very popular choice for jewelry today. Prized for its rarity, inertness and shine, many couples choose platinum for their engagement and both men’s and women’s wedding bands.

Platinum is useful in other ways as well, including its use as an alloy in medical instruments, magnets, and in electrodes. It has been used on ships, pipelines, and on steel piers. Its most common use is as a catalyst in chemical reactions. It has been used in this manner since the 19th century, and is still used as a catalyst today.

  • Titanium Wedding Bands

An item that is growing in popularity is Titanium Wedding Bands. Less expensive than its gold, platinum, and palladium counterparts, titanium bands are an interesting choice for wedding bands.

Titanium is a strong, corrosion-resistant, lustrous metal used for a variety of tasks including uses in medical fields, as surgical instruments and implants. It is also used anywhere strength is required, but low weight is desirable, such as in wheelchairs and crutches. It is also used in a variety of sporting equipment, ranging from the frames of bicycles to the shafts of golf clubs and lacrosse sticks.

In jewelry, titanium is mainly used as an accent in men’s jewelry. Its use in men’s wedding bands is becoming more common, although many people still prefer the traditional gold, platinum or palladium bands.
