If you have missed the constant speculation and reporting on the royal wedding back in April, you are in luck. The Duchess of Cambridge has decided to put a few items from her wedding look on display in Buckingham palace.

In the display, you will find her stunning Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen gown, the complimentary veil and diamond tiara, as well as her shoes. Her intricate and beautiful diamond earrings are also on display. Missing from the collection, of course, is her stunning sapphire and diamond engagement ring, and the Welsh gold wedding band.

The Cullinan Diamond is a HUGE rough cut diamond discovered in South Africa in the Premier Mine in 1905. Fredrick Wells, a superintendant of the mine looked above him and spotted the 3106 carat diamond in the wall. He scaled the wall and removed the largest diamond crystal ever found.

The Cullinan diamond was cut into 9 major pieces, and 96 smaller diamonds. Each major diamond is part of the British Crown Jewel collection.

Cut from the gargantuan Cullinan diamond, the Star of Africa diamond weighs 530.2 carats. It is pear shaped, with 74 facets.  Today, this beautiful diamond is set in the Scepter with the Cross, and is traditionally used as a part of the coronation ceremonies.

  • Engagement Ring Trends

Its time to get creative with your engagement rings! Engagement bands are becoming less traditional. What are the trends for this summer?

    1. Diamonds all around the band

There is nothing like a band of diamonds to really set your ring apart. The extra stones add both extra sparkle, and make the center stone appear larger!

    2. Colored Stones

Colored engagement bands are a hit for the nontraditional bride. There are literally no limits to the colors you can choose. Sapphires, Rubies, and colored Diamonds are all popular choices.

    3. Raised Settings

Many bands now are featuring intricate settings. What could be better to accentuate the beauty of your stone than a delicate bow or a detailed mold?

    4. Eco-friendly stones

Rings made with conflict-free diamonds and recycled gold settings are growing in popularity. If this is a trend you choose, another option would be to do an entire eco-friendly wedding!

What do you think of these trends? Do you prefer more traditional rings or more intricate bands? What does your dream engagement ring look like?
